Meet Our Team

Combination is better than either one alone.

Jinkyu is the co-founder and CEO of AITRICS. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Seoul National University. Before he founded PIKL, a visual recognition AI software company, he had served in various capacities as a representative software engineer at Samsung Electronics for 6 years. Leading the group of software engineers, he was in charge of developing Web Runtime (WRT) and Specification of Common Web Service Platform for Samsung devices.

Jinkyu Yoo
Chief Executive Officer

Inhyeok obtained his Bachelor’s at Busan University and Master’s degree in Machine Learning at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). His main research interests lie in generative models, particularly in the area of developing various methodologies and applications of GAN. Previously, he has given Machine Learning lessons at Samsung Electronics and POSCO. He then joined AITRICS to advance predictive analytics ML models and data pre-processors to improve the quality of critical care.

Inhyuk Cho
Research Engineer

Minseop has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Sunkyunkwan University and a Master's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from POSTECH. He has previously worked with Samsung Electronics to serve as a teaching assistant of Machine learning & AI. As a research scientist at AITRICS, he plays a vital role in establishing accurate prediction models by analyzing complex medical data like time series EMR data and visual images (CT, MRI, or natural images). His main research interest lies in meta-learning for few-shot classification.

Minseop Park
Research Scientist

Jiyuu Yi has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering from Sejong University and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). During his Master’s degree, his research mainly focused on improving generalization performance of Deep Learning models in times-series classification and image classification. At AITRICS, he is in charge of developing data pre-processors and contributes to building machine learning models at the aspect of generalization performance.

Jiyuu Yi
Research Engineer

As a People Operations Manager, Onnuri focuses on helping employees improve their productivity at work and maintaining high levels of organizational effectiveness. Before joining AITRICS, she worked as an administrative manager at the National Research Foundation and Industry-University Cooperation Foundation of Hanyang University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sungkyunkwan University.

Onnuri Lim
People Operation Manager

Yejin received a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication and Design from Seoul Women’s University. She has been interested in the area of Digital Product Design focusing on UX/UI and Interaction Design. At AITRICS, she is enhancing the value of AITRICS’s products conceptually and visually by using UI/Graphic design.

Yejin Choi

Wonjoong received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University. Prior to joining AITRICS, he has worked as a sales & marketing manager in the machinery manufacturing industry. At AITRICS, as a sales manager, he focuses on developing sales goals and strategies, looking for sales opportunities, monitoring market situation, and managing relationships with partners who want to apply advanced AI techniques to their business.

Wonjoong Paek
Sales Manager

Heejung holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a Master’s degree in Brain & Cognitive Science from Ewha Womans University. Prior to joining AITRICS, she worked as a researcher at Asan Medical Center, leveraging her expertise in Medical Image Analysis with Deep Learning and Machine Learning. She has mainly contributed to developing medical analysis tools that enabled fully automated spine segmentation in CT images and classification of brain tumor.

Heejung Hyun
Research Engineer

Dongkeon is experienced in looking at things from various angles. With his horticulture degree, he managed to grow a wide range of specialties as he started his career as a software engineer. He began his career by developing and running his own football community. Then he successfully developed the website for the TOEIC problem-solving service. At AITRICS, he takes charge of all the parts that our users interact with and the practice of front-end development as a whole.

Dongkeon Kim

Yaeseul received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Seoul Women’s University. Prior to joining AITRICS, she has previously worked at a PR agency that specialized in Global IT Companies, where she took charge of public relations of Dow Chemical and Dell EMC. With her strong expertise in the field, she joined AITRICS to establish effective PR & media strategy and maintain lines of communication between the organization and its public.

Yaeseul Lee
Public Relations Manager

Youngki received his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Science and Computer Science from KAIST and Master’s degree in Computer Science from KAIST. He is broadly interested in machine learning with particular emphasis on high-dimensional data and structured data. He has previously conducted researches on high-dimensional multitask learning. He then joined AITRICS to develop a reliable prediction model on high-dimensional and structured data.

Youngki Hong
Research Engineer

As Corporate Strategy & IR Manager, Younji develops corporate strategies based on her expertise, acquired through her previous experiences. Prior to joining AITRICS, she was responsible for developing digital marketing strategies for SK-II at Procter & Gamble APAC HQ. She has also worked as a research analyst at Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Company.

Heewon has a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature from Ewha Womans University. Prior to joining AITRICS, she has built her expertise in providing leadership to financial aspects as a finance & operation manager at a manufacturing company. At AITRICS, she ensures that financial operational activities are executed and delivered as per the superior standard set by the company.

Heewon Seo
Finance Manager

Jaeyoung is majoring in school of computing at KAIST. Prior to joining AITRICS, he has worked as a Front-end engineer at ‘Jr Coding Academy’, where he enhanced his ability as a developer and software engineer. In addition, he was the leader of android application development teaching project which is organized by KAIST Idea Factory. His passion as a developer as well as his interest in machine learning led him to AITRICS and now he is in charge of Front-end developer.

Jaeyoung Jang
Software Engineer

Sangchul achieved a Bachelor's degree for computer science and electrical engineering at Handong Global University. Also, he achieved a Master's degree for deep learning as a member of MILAb at HGU under the supervision of Prof. Heeyoul Choi. After graduated, he joined AITRICS as a research engineer. Now he is participating in developing various health care model based on ML. His research interests are ML-based health care model, deep learning, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning. He is seeking to develop more general AI model for helping industry and other people.

Sangchul Hahn
Research Engineer

Jayoung earned her bachelor's degree and Ph.D. in medicine from the Catholic University of Korea. She is a licensed medical doctor and a specialist for radiation oncology. She has previously worked as a clinical assistant professor at the Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital. As a medical manager of AITRICS, she will devote herself to improve the medical precision and usefulness. And also she will point the right way to go in the medical aspect.

Kyoungmin earned his MS degree in Intelligent Convergence Systems from Seoul National University. His research mainly focuses on pattern recognition for the computer vision system. At AITRICS, he is working on research for Natural Language Understanding.

As RA/QA Manager, SuJi focuses on complying the regulations for medical solutions to fasten product launch for a global market. Before joining AITRICS, she worked as a consultant at a consulting group, Emergo By UL and Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as a reviewer.

Suji Lee

As RA/QA Manager, Chasun is responsible for a regulation compliance for AI-based healthcare solutions at AITRICS. With her past experiences of working as QA/RA/Reimbursement Manager at global and local medical device companies, she gained valuable experiences in the field of Medical Device industry(IVD/Orthopedic/SaMD).

Chasun Cho
Regulatory Affairs

Hanseok received his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Prior to joining AITRICS, he has worked as a machine learning engineer and applied artificial intelligence in natural language, genomics and healthcare. At AITRICS, as a research engineer, he is developing technologies that benefit society and humanity by using various types of data and machine learning.

Hanseok Jo
Research Engineer

Taejun earned his BS degree in Computer Science from StonyBrook University. Before joining AITRICS, he has experienced in developing various applications from hybrid apps to web applications, participating in both front-end and back-end as a full-stack developer in several startup companies. He believes that AI is now the core tech, leading and changing all perspectives and paradigms in both business and software development fields. In AITRICS, as a back-end software engineer, his primary role is to implement, advance, and improve the server and infra side of its medical AI solutions.

Taejun Lee
Software Engineer

Seongok holds Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Chemistry, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His research has been mainly focused on graph neural networks, Bayesian deep learning, and deep generative models, in which many were recognized by chemistry journals. At AITRICS, he develops prediction systems and generative models that deliver accurate and reliable insight-driven solutions and revolutionize the current drug development process.

Seongok Ryu, Ph.D.
Research Scientist

Haeyong received his Bachelor’s degree in computer science and chemical engineering at Ajou University. He also delved into machine learning and biomedical informatics at the Learning And Mining from DAta(LAMDA) lab. He joined AITRICS as a back-end software engineer to develop advanced medical AI solutions with an interest in DevOps and machine learning.

Haeyong Hwang
Software Engineer

Yoonho holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in computer science from POSTECH. His research touches on many sub-topics within machine learning, including meta-learning, generalization theory, and permutation-invariant architectures. As a research scientist at AITRICS, his primary role is to develop novel machine learning methods that extend the capabilities of deep neural networks.

Yoonho Lee
Research Scientist

Doyeong holds Bachelor’s degrees in Statistics and Financial Engineering and a Master’s in Computer Science and Engineering from Korea University. His research has been mainly focused on applications of graph neural networks and natural language processing on bioinformatics and drug property prediction. At AITRICS, he is developing prediction systems combining graph neural networks and Bayesian deep learning, looking forward to a more precise and reliable drug discovery process.

Doyeong Hwang
Research Engineer

Seyeol holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Bio and Brain Eng. that is a multi-disciplinary major from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His research area is bioinformatics, and he has been mainly focused on the integration and application of biological knowledge networks. Here at AITRICS, he develops a target identification system and a biological knowledge browser, an early stage in the drug discovery pipeline.

Seyeol Yoon, Ph.D.
Research Scientist

As People&Culture Lead, Minsang is overseeing and developing the company's HR strategies and processes based on his expertise, acquired through his previous experiences. Before joining ATIRICS, he was a Senior HR manager at a sovereign wealth fund known as Korea Investment Corporation. He has also worked as an HR specialist at Diageo Korea and Kumho Asiana Group.

Minsang Yoo
People Operation Lead

Prior to joining AITRICS, Go-Eun had experience in rebranding and creating new brands in various industries. Starting as a graphic designer for a brand consulting company, she worked as a brand designer in F&B and IT fields, contemplating strategies to build a positive brand image. As a brand designer at AITRICS, she creates a consistent brand visual identity and branding strategy.

Goeun Kim
Brand Designer

Seung Hwan holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in physics from Sungkyunkwan University. When he was a postdoctoral researcher, he studied protein structure prediction at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study and machine learning for drug discovery at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Here at AITRICS, he is developing prediction models for protein-ligand interaction based on computer and machine learning.

Seunghwan Hong, Ph.D.
Research Scientist

Dong-Hyun received a B.S. in Physics from KAIST and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Montreal(MILA, Yoshua's group). He won a Bronze Medal in International Physics Olympiad in his high school years and Competitions Master in Kaggle. Prior to joining AITRICS, he has worked as Deep Learning Researcher at Uber AI Lab, Kakao Brain, and ESTsoft. He studied Semi-Supervised Learning(an inventor of Pseudo-Label method), Language Models, and Dialog System. Now in AITRICS, he plays a lead role in NLP Research, especially for Question Answering and Conversational Modeling.

Donghyun Lee
Research Scientist

Beomjin Ahn holds B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from Korea University. He mainly focused on computer vision and few-shot learning during the Master's course. As a researcher at AITRICS, he works on research for natural language processing, especially for open-domain question answering system.

Beomjin Ahn

Onur has received a Master's Degree from ETH Zurich and is obtaining his Ph.D. from the University of Mons. He has focused on speech and audio signal processing and has worked extensively in Text-to-Speech field. At AITRICS, his work is on style transfer and few-shot learning for TTS, combining his domain knowledge with deep learning techniques. His additional research interests are prosody modeling, music, and singing signal processing.

Onur Babacan

As a Finance Lead, Haein establishes a financial system and developing its economic plans and strategies based on her expertise in the field. Previously, she had experience in building up an operating system and managing accounting&finance projects. Before joining AITRICS, she worked as a finance manager at a bio venture company and a manufacturing company.

Hyuksang holds Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance from Hanyang University. Before joining AITRICS, he has worked as a data engineer and a platform developer in quantitative investment management firms. He is interested in continuous integration and development along with cloud engineering. At AITRICS, he is working as a back-end software engineer.

Hyuksang Kwon

Soojung holds a B.S. in Chemistry from KAIST. She believes that Computational Chemistry empowered by machine learning will revolutionize drug development. At AITRICS, she develops models to generate drug candidates, leveraging her domain knowledge, and machine learning skills. Before joining AITRICS, she has focused her research at KAIST on tackling generalization problems in deep learning models for Chemistry. She also worked as a research intern at MGH, Boston, where she acquired translational research experience.

Jinwoo Shin, Ph.D.
Scientific Advisor

Jinwoo Shin is currently an associate professor at the School of Electrical Engineering at KAIST, Korea. His current major research interest is on algorithmic questions for machine learning and related fields. He obtained the Ph.D. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with George M. Sprowls Award and B.S. degrees from Seoul National University. After spending two years at Algorithms & Randomness Center, Georgia Institute of Technology, one year at Business Analytics and Mathematical Sciences Department, IBM T. J. Watson Research, he joined KAIST EE.

Yanwei Fu, Ph.D.
Scientific Advisor

Yanwei Fu is an assistant professor (actually the rank of associate professor) at the School of Data Science, Fudan University, Shanghai China. His research includes attribute learning for image/video understanding, life-long learning, open set recognition, open-vocabulary object detection/retrieval, as well as some multimedia applications such as multi-view video summarization and image segmentation.

Cho-Jui Hsieh, Ph.D.
Scientific Advisor

Cho-Jui Hsieh is an assistant professor of Compute Science at UCLA at Fall 2018. He was a Ph.D. student at UT Austin working with Prof. Inderjit Dhillon. He received his master degree in National Taiwan University under supervision of Prof. Chih-Jen Lin. Before joining UCLA, he have worked as an Assistant Professor at UC Davis Computer Science and Statistics for three years, and was a visiting scholar in Google since summer 2018. He is interested in developing new algorithms and optimization techniques for large-scale machine learning problems. Currently, he is working on developing new machine learning models as well as improving the model size, training speed, prediction speed, and robustness of popular (deep learning) models.

Yongjae Lee, Ph.D.
Scientific Advisor

Yongjae Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at UC Davis. Previously, he has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the EECS Department at UC Berkely and in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University with Alyosha Efros and Martial Hebert. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. His research mainly focuses on developing robust visual recognition systems using the vast amount of unstructured images and video contents with minimal human supervision.

Myeongjae Jeon, Ph.D.
Scientific Advisor

Myeongjae Jeon is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). Before moving to academia, he spent years at Systems Research Group in Microsoft Research Redmond, working on advancing the state of the art in large-scale computing platforms supporting the major Microsoft services by making them more efficient, responsive, intelligent and programmable. In the context of machine learning plus systems, he has been working on scheduling deep learning workloads on multi-tenant GPU clusters to provide features like high efficiency, resource isolation, and fair sharing. He finished his Ph.D. in computer science at Rice University.

Juho Lee, Ph.D.
Scientific Advisor

Juho Lee is an assistant professor at the graduate school of AI, KAIST. He finished his Ph.D. at POSTECH and worked as a postdoc at computational statistics and machine learning group in University of Oxford. His research, resulting in several publications in top machine learning conferences including ICML and NIPS, mainly focuses on Bayesian nonparametric models and Bayesian deep learning.
